Virat Kohli & Vikas Kohli Increase Stake In Vault Fitness Chain To 28%

Indian cricketer Virat Kohli and his brother Vikas Kohli have strengthened their commitment to premium fitness chain Vault by Virat Kohli, acquiring a collective 28% equity stake in the company. The move formalises their role as strategic investors as the franchise-led fitness brand prepares for its next phase of nationwide expansion.

The announcement comes as Vault crosses 30,000 members across its network of 30 operational clubs in India. Founded in 2023 by fitness entrepreneur Mukesh Gogia, the company now plans to expand its footprint to more than 50 operational clubs by the end of 2026, with a focus on both Tier I and emerging Tier II and Tier III markets.

Unlike conventional gym chains, Vault has adopted a franchise-led expansion model that enables faster growth while maintaining a premium positioning. Its facilities are equipped with global fitness and recovery brands, including Matrix, Torque USA, Precor and Hyperice, catering to consumers seeking a comprehensive fitness and wellness experience.

The investment also reflects the growing momentum in India’s organised fitness industry, where rising health awareness, increasing disposable incomes and demand for premium wellness experiences are driving expansion beyond metropolitan cities. Vault’s strategy includes opening larger-format fitness centres, typically ranging between 6,000 and 25,000 square feet, while deepening its presence in underpenetrated markets.

For Virat Kohli, the increased stake signals a deeper evolution from celebrity endorser to long-term business investor. Over the years, the former India captain has built a diversified investment portfolio spanning fitness, athleisure, food and technology, with Vault becoming one of his most significant ventures in the health and wellness space.
