Flipkart is taking a different route with its latest Big Billion Days 2026 campaign in Kolkata. While the e-commerce company’s larger festive campaign brings together celebrity names including Rohit Sharma, Jackie Shroff, Aditya Srivastava and Samay Raina, the Kolkata-focused film puts local faces and a familiar city landmark at the centre of the story.
Titled ‘Kothaye Jaabe Dada?’, the campaign, conceptualised by Talented, builds its creative around BBD Bagh, one of Kolkata’s best-known landmarks and a familiar destination on the city’s bus routes.
The film follows Madhusudan, a Kolkata bus conductor, whose everyday working life revolves around the BBD Bagh route. Having spent years calling out “BBD! BBD!” to passengers, he eventually discovers another meaning for the same three letters Big Billion Days.
The film turns this familiar bus announcement into the central creative device for the sale.
As passengers board the bus, the destination gradually becomes a cue for Flipkart’s festive offers. In one scene, a passenger’s bag zipper breaks, prompting Madhusudan to point her towards the Big Billion Days sale and its deals. The narrative then extends the joke through a playful ‘BBD ticket’, connecting the everyday bus journey with the shopping event.

The idea does not stop with the film. Flipkart has extended the campaign to select Kolkata buses travelling to or through BBD Bagh, bringing Big Billion Days branding into the daily commute.
The bus tickets themselves have been turned into advertising touchpoints, carrying Big Billion Days offers and QR codes that commuters can scan to explore the sale. The activation also brings Flipkart’s broader festive proposition, ‘Luck Badal Sakta Hai, Yahan Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’, into the local execution.
This makes the campaign different from simply adapting a national advertisement for a regional market. Instead, the brand has built the creative around something that already exists in Kolkata’s everyday vocabulary.
The campaign’s strongest element is that BBD Bagh is not merely being used as a backdrop. Its name creates the wordplay that allows Flipkart to connect the city’s everyday commute with its largest festive shopping event.
By putting the message on buses and tickets, the brand also carries that idea beyond the screen and into the environment where the original “BBD” reference naturally exists.
