AI Hiring Startup Tsenta Raises Rs 5 Cr In Funding Led By Y Combinator

Tsenta, an AI startup founded by two young Indian entrepreneurs, has raised $500,000, or about Rs 5 crore, from Y Combinator to simplify job applications. The platform uses AI agents to match candidates with suitable roles, refine resumes, and submit applications across hiring systems in minutes.

Why the founders built Tsenta

According to the Moneycontrol report, the idea came from personal frustration. Agnay Srivastava, 21, and Pulkit Gupta, 19, said they struggled to find jobs in the US despite strong technical backgrounds, with Srivastava saying he applied to nearly 2,500 to 3,000 internships and received only about 10 to 12 interview callbacks.

Both founders were students at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology when they started building the product. They said the hiring process had become more difficult for international students because of layoffs, tighter screening, ATS filters, and the preference for candidates who do not need visa sponsorship.

Tsenta is designed to automate the full application flow instead of only helping with resume edits or job suggestions. The startup works across platforms such as Workday, Lever, and Greenhouse, and the founders say it can apply to more than 40 jobs within minutes.

Early traction points to demand for automation

The startup has already seen early momentum, growing from around 1,100 users to nearly 8,000 users in about two months, according to the founders. They said repeated use matters, with candidates applying to 20 to 30 roles a day for about a month often reporting better interview outcomes.

Some users have reportedly landed interviews at companies including Goldman Sachs, Nvidia, and Netflix. Srivastava, who moved from Jaipur to the US in 2024, said the goal is to make job searching less repetitive and more effective. The company plans to use the Y Combinator backing to scale the platform and improve its automation tools further.
