HCLTech Opens Advanced Semiconductor Lab In Bengaluru With Rs 185 Cr Investment

HCLTech has opened an Advanced Semiconductor Lab in Bengaluru with an investment of Rs 185 crore, expanding its capabilities in semiconductor testing, post-silicon engineering and failure analysis.

Spread across 40,000 sq ft, the facility includes 25,000 sq ft of Class 10K and Class 1K cleanrooms. It is designed to support semiconductor research and development, pre-production activities, and production qualification, giving customers access to testing and validation capabilities under one roof.

The lab is equipped with testing and analysis systems from Teradyne, Advantest, Keysight, Tektronix, and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Its capabilities cover electrical validation, automated testing, qualification and failure analysis, including optical and electron microscopy and focused ion beam systems.

The facility builds on HCLTech’s two decades of experience in the semiconductor sector and follows its Spec2Parts business model, which brings multiple stages of semiconductor validation and qualification together on a single platform.

HCLTech said the facility is intended to reduce turnaround times and simplify the testing and qualification process for customers. It will serve both Indian and international markets as the company expands its semiconductor engineering and testing operations.

The Bengaluru lab is also being developed to meet international quality and industry standards, with certifications planned for ISO 17025, ISO 9001, AS 9100 for aerospace and defence applications, and ISO 13485 for medical devices.

The new facility adds to India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem by bringing advanced testing, qualification, and failure analysis infrastructure together with engineering expertise, enabling semiconductor companies to move more efficiently from design specifications to production-ready parts.

Hari Sadarahalli, Corporate Vice President and Global Head, Engineering and R&D Services at HCLTech, said, “The inauguration of our Advanced Semiconductor Lab in Bengaluru is a proud milestone for HCLTech and reinforces India’s growing leadership in semiconductor innovation. This facility reflects our deep commitment to investing in high-end engineering capabilities. We are excited to contribute to the country’s vision of becoming a global hub for advanced technology.”
