On the occasion of World Public Transport Day on 17 April, Yatri, the official Mumbai Local Train App, has launched a citywide campaign titled #SkipTheTraffic #SwitchToPublic, encouraging Mumbaikars to reconsider their daily commute and shift from private vehicles to public transport.

The campaign is rooted in a clear insight: while Mumbai has an extensive public transport network, many commuters still face uncertainty when navigating it. Yatri positions this gap not as a lack of infrastructure, but as a need for greater confidence and clarity in using existing systems.

As per the brand, through this campaign, Yatri focuses on enabling informed commuting habits, where ease of access to information can influence behaviour at scale and support a more efficient movement across the city.

By reframing public transport as a practical everyday choice, the campaign highlights its potential to offer more predictable and less stressful journeys, particularly in a city where road congestion continues to impact travel time. It brings attention to the role of informed decision making in improving daily mobility.

The initiative also points to the broader implications of commuting choices. Moving away from private vehicles can contribute to reduced traffic congestion, lower emissions and a more sustainable urban environment, aligning individual convenience with collective benefit.

Yatri’s platform supports this shift through features such as real time train tracking, multimodal journey planning and digital metro ticketing.
