Clinic Plus Shows How Daughters Become Their Mothers’ Greatest Strength In ‘#MaaKiMazbooti’ Campaign

There are plenty of stories about mothers teaching their daughters to be strong. Clinic Plus takes a different route with its latest Daughters’ Day film, asking what happens when that strength comes back to the mother.

Built around the thought ‘Maa ki Majboori nahi, Beti Hoti hai Maa ki Mazbooti’, the film from Clinic Plus’ long-running #MeriBetiStrong platform turns the spotlight on a daughter who gradually understands what her mother is going through and eventually becomes the person who gives her the courage to choose herself.

Conceptualised by Ogilvy India, the campaign takes the mother-daughter narrative a step further, exploring how the strength, empathy and independence a mother instils in her daughter can eventually become a source of strength for the mother herself

The film opens at a book launch, where a mother is asked where she found the inspiration for her collection of poems. In which she points towards her daughter, setting up the story that follows.

We then see the daughter growing up and noticing the compromises her mother makes within her marriage. While the adults around her have different advice to adjust, to make compromises, or simply accept the situation, the daughter sees things differently.

One of the film’s most striking moments comes when the young girl asks her mother not to make two braids for her anymore. Her reasoning is simple: ‘if two braids cannot stay together, perhaps one strong braid would be better.’

That childhood observation becomes a metaphor for the larger story.

As the daughter grows older, she begins to understand her mother’s circumstances and eventually helps her take a step towards rebuilding her life on her own terms. The emotional payoff comes back at the book launch, where the mother acknowledges that while she gave her daughter a life, her daughter gave her another one in return.

Rather than presenting strength as something that only travels from mother to daughter, the campaign completes the circle. The confidence, empathy and independence a mother nurtures in her daughter can eventually become the very qualities that help the mother stand stronger herself.

With its quiet storytelling and a simple reversal of a familiar relationship dynamic, the film finds emotion not in a grand gesture, but in the moment a daughter realises that being strong for her mother can be its own form of growing up.
