Motherland, an Indian lifestyle brand focused on contemporary culture, pop culture and subcultures, has launched its new Made in India collection, bringing Indian identity into everyday fashion through a typography-led design approach.
The collection features polos, T-shirts, 70s-inspired ringer tees, crop T-shirts and tank tops across unisex and women’s fits. The designs use phrases such as INDIA, BHARATH, SWADESHI and MADE IN INDIA, combining minimal silhouettes with bold typography to highlight Indian identity.
The collection extends Motherland’s broader design language, which draws from Indian cities, cultural narratives, emerging trends and everyday references. Alongside apparel, the brand operates across lifestyle accessories, art and its collectible quarterly magazine.
The launch also marks the appointment of MMA fighter Asha The Knockout Queen Roka as Motherland’s Digital Ambassador. Roka is the first Indian woman to record a nine-second knockout and has emerged as a prominent name in Indian MMA.
The campaign features Roka within her MMA environment rather than a conventional fashion setting, connecting the collection’s focus on contemporary Indian identity with her journey in a growing Indian sporting discipline.
Through the collaboration, Motherland brings together two expressions of contemporary India: fashion and combat sport, using the Made in India collection as a visual representation of national identity through everyday clothing.
Asha Roka, MMA fighter, said, “I’ve always felt that representing India is about more than where you come from. It’s also about what you choose to do with your journey and how you carry that identity with you. That’s what connected me to Motherland and this collection. The designs are simple, but they have a strong presence, and that feels very close to how I approach my own work: stay true to who you are and let that speak for itself.”
