Oracle has begun another round of layoffs, with affected employees reportedly receiving early-morning termination emails telling them that the day of the notification would be their final working day.
According to reports, the latest job cuts began on September 14, 2026, and the number of employees affected has not been officially disclosed. The termination communication, reviewed by multiple media outlets, described the move as part of a “broader organisational change” following a review of Oracle’s current business needs.
The reported termination email begins by informing employees that their roles have been eliminated.
According to the email reviewed by media reports, employees were told that the decision had been taken after consideration of Oracle’s current business requirements and that the day they received the communication was their last working day.
Oracle Layoff Email:
We are sharing some difficult news regarding your position.
After careful consideration of Oracle’s current business needs, we have made the decision to eliminate your role as part of a broader organizational change. As a result, today is your last working… https://t.co/DxuWsIQ20s pic.twitter.com/MAhCjGudpb

The message also informed affected employees that they would be eligible for severance, subject to Oracle’s severance plan. Details of the package were to be sent separately through DocuSign.
Employees were also asked to provide a personal email address for receiving separation-related information and documentation.
The communication further stated that access to company computers, email, voicemail and files would be deactivated. Employees were reminded not to download, copy or retain Oracle’s confidential information.
The latest layoffs come after Oracle already reduced its workforce significantly during fiscal 2026.
According to NDTV’s report, Oracle’s global headcount fell by approximately 21,000 employees, or 13%, during fiscal 2026, leaving the company with roughly 141,000 employees.
The latest round therefore represents another phase in a broader restructuring programme rather than an isolated workforce reduction.
However, it is important to distinguish between confirmed figures and estimates. Oracle has not disclosed how many employees are affected by the September round, while reports citing sources have suggested that the cuts could extend across different teams and geographies.
The layoffs are taking place against the backdrop of Oracle’s aggressive expansion in artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure.
